Indonesia reports two rhino pregnancies
The Indonesian government has announced that two female Sumatran rhinoceroses are pregnant. The female rhinoceros at Way Kambas National Park on Sumatra Island is in her 238th day of pregnancy, having completed half of the gestation period. Predictions suggest that she will give birth in May next year. This species of animal is considered critically endangered, with fewer than 80 individuals remaining in the wild in Indonesia, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). They are found only in this region within national parks across several islands.
