Twin evades police for 19 years
The Chinese police have managed to apprehend a man wanted for kidnapping and theft cases that spanned over two decades, after exploiting his strong resemblance to his twin brother. The investigation into him was reopened in April 2026, following a review of old files, which revealed that the suspect had been presumed dead in 2007 due to a car accident. However, detailed examinations uncovered discrepancies in the photographs and documents, showing that the wanted man resembled his living twin brother, who had filed for a name change after his brother’s death. His identity had been used to conceal his escape from justice. After thorough inquiries, his true identity was determined, and he was captured, revealing that the use of a forged identity had allowed him to escape from prison.
