Turkey has nominated Feridun Hadi Sinirlioğlu, secretary-general of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, for the post of United Nations secretary-general, according to Anadolu Agency. Ankara submitted the nomination in a letter signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as the deadlock over selecting a new secretary-general continues after the Security Council’s seventh straw poll failed to produce a result.
