The series *A Crime in Zamalek* has brought renewed attention to the mysterious “Supermarket Crime,” which took place in Cairo’s Garden City district in the 1990s. Not all the details were ever uncovered, and the perpetrator’s identity remains unknown. It took around 15 years for the incident to be adapted into a drama, based on an idea and written by Amr Samir Atef, as part of the series *The Full Story*. The show relocates the events to Zamalek, reshapes the characters and their relationships, and recreates the atmosphere of mystery surrounding the case.
