U.S. President Donald Trump ruled out using nuclear weapons against Iran on Wednesday, saying there was “no need” and claiming that the United States had destroyed 90% of Tehran’s capabilities. The remarks came after claims that a nuclear strike might be carried out, while Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned that any “new strategic mistake” by Washington could lead to another confrontation. Tehran had proposed a seven-point plan and options for reopening the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for lifting the blockade and oil restrictions, but Trump rejected it.
