Aden Migrant Plot Foiled
Yemeni Coast Guard patrols thwarted a migrant-smuggling operation in the western Gulf of Aden over the past 48 hours, intercepting a boat carrying 180 African migrants, most of them women, who were heading for the Yemeni coast east of Aden. The authorities provided the migrants with care in coordination with the relevant agencies and the UN Refugee Agency’s office in Aden. The four crew members were arrested and referred to the relevant authorities on suspicion of links to a migrant-smuggling network.
