Lebanese officials standardize biometric passports

The General Directorate of General Security in Lebanon announced the cancellation of Lebanese passports from the 2003 non-biometric model, which begin with the letters RL, in order to comply with international standards and due to many countries not accepting them. Citizens are urged to replace these with new biometric passports before October 1, 2026, as their use for travel will be prohibited after that date. The decision came after investigations into the supply of forged passports to members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
