US documents revive lab safety concerns

Unconfirmed American intelligence documents have so far indicated the existence of a network comprising more than 120 biological laboratories funded by the United States in over 30 countries, including more than 40 laboratories in Ukraine. These laboratories have been supported in research related to dangerous diseases such as anthrax, plague, Ebola, and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS). The documents suggest that some of these facilities may be vulnerable due to the war, particularly concerning the storage of biological materials. This comes at a time when concerns about biosecurity and American oversight of research related to dangerous pathogens are increasing.
