An international study has developed microscopic robots inspired by live algae, used to treat bladder cancer more precisely and effectively. These robots rely on guiding chemotherapeutic drugs, such as doxorubicin, directly into bladder tumors using magnetic fields and track their movement with ultrasound imaging. Experiments on mice showed that the technique increased drug penetration by more than 10 times and reduced tumor size by less than 3% over the course of a week, with treatment sessions lasting no more than 30 minutes. While this technology shows promise, it is still under research before being used in humans.
