Euphrates water levels rise, flooding Iraq

The Syrian Ministry of Energy has resumed full operation of the monumental Euphrates Station in Deir ez-Zor after completing technical works and restoring the affected parts, in order to provide drinking water to approximately 400,000 people. This step is part of the government's efforts to restore water stability in the region, amid reduced water inflows from Turkey, and reflects the government's approach to managing water flows and balancing water needs with the response to the Euphrates River floods. Additionally, the Dereng and Al-Jalaa stations have been reactivated to supply water to an extra 50,000 residents, while measures continue to address the impacts of the floods, which have resulted in the death of children and damage to hundreds of homes and agricultural lands.
