Fuel price delays threaten food security
The head of the Union of Bakeries and Bakeries in Lebanon, Nasser Sarour, stated that rising fuel prices threaten the continuity of the bakery sector and increase production costs, despite the oil barrel price dropping to around $73. He explained that even though diesel prices have fallen to $1,028 per ton, they remain high, directly impacting the operating costs of bakeries and food security. He called on the government to reconsider the pricing mechanism and to reveal the reasons behind the price hikes despite the global decline, in order to maintain market stability and food security.
