UNICEF has warned that at least 100,000 children in Lebanon are at risk of not returning to school at the start of the new academic year, due to the damage sustained by educational institutions during the recent war. A national assessment revealed that 340 educational facilities, including public and private schools as well as training centers, suffered extensive damage, with 17 schools completely destroyed—mainly in the Nabatieh, South, Beqaa, Baalbek-Hermel, Beirut, and Mount Lebanon governorates. The organization emphasized that rehabilitating these schools is essential to ensure the continuation of education and to protect children from the risks of school dropout, increased child labor, and early marriage.
