New drug potential for tooth regeneration

Development of an experimental drug that restores the natural growth of human teeth, targeting the USAG-1 protein which limits dental formation. Experiments on mice have successfully resulted in the complete regrowth of missing teeth. The first clinical trials on humans began in Japan in 2024, involving 30 patients, and have so far shown safe results. This paves the way for a biological treatment for tooth loss.
