Trump envoy criticizes South Africa over hate chant

The U.S. ambassador to South Africa has criticized President Cyril Ramaphosa for not condemning incitement to violence against farmers, specifically chants calling for their killing. The ambassador, speaking in an exclusive interview, highlighted ongoing diplomatic tensions and concerns over South Africa’s policies, including race-based land seizures and alliances with countries like Iran and Russia. He emphasized the importance of U.S.-South Africa economic cooperation, particularly in mining, while criticizing South Africa’s race-based ownership requirements that hinder American investment. Despite multiple diplomatic rebukes, there is a desire from both sides to improve relations.
