Trump's push for super intelligence
President Donald Trump has launched a campaign to rebrand artificial intelligence as "superintelligence" in an effort to change public perception and address concerns about AI. Following a recent executive order, the US government has begun using the new terminology across official documents, and Trump has publicly criticized the term "artificial" as misleading. AI industry leaders, such as Meta and OpenAI, continue to use traditional terminology, with some suggesting that a rebrand may not significantly impact public understanding. Experts note that "superintelligence" is technically distinct from current AI and could evoke different levels of concern, but it remains to be seen whether the change will effectively influence public opinion.
