Russian suspect tied to London hospital cyberattack detained

A Russian man linked to a cyber-crime gang responsible for a 2024 hacking incident that disrupted London hospitals and contributed to a patient's death has been detained. The suspect, Vladimir K., was arrested in Japan and is accused of part of the Qilin group's activities, which have targeted over 4,000 organizations and extorted more than $140 million. The hack of blood testing service Synnovis caused significant disruptions, including delayed treatments and a patient death, marking the first cyber attack directly linked to a fatality. German investigators are now including this incident in their wider investigation into the cyber-crime network.
