Judge restricts election immigration bans
The article reports on ongoing legal battles between the Trump administration and California officials over efforts to identify and remove noncitizens from voting rolls. A federal judge in Northern California limited federal immigration operations targeting noncitizens before the election, stating they risked intimidating U.S. citizens and interfering with voting rights. Numerous lawsuits challenge the administration’s claims of widespread voter fraud by noncitizens, with courts consistently ruling against the administration’s attempts to enforce citizenship verification measures. Despite federal efforts, elections in California have largely proceeded without incident.
