Hamza Al-Ayli Opposes Term Disabilities

At the "Our Children" International Forum on Arts for People with Special Abilities, artist Hamza Al-Ayli emphasized his rejection of the term "people with disabilities" and expressed his preference to focus on their talents and capabilities. Al-Ayli spoke about his experience portraying the character "Maskar" in the series "Ibn Halan," explaining that the character was not included in the original script and that he faced difficulties in bringing it to life. However, by observing the details of people with special abilities in real life and communicating with his cousins who have special needs, he was able to perform the role differently—with greater awareness. He mentioned that the number of people with special abilities in Egypt approaches 15 million and that they possess diverse talents. He stressed that the term "people with disabilities" does not truly reflect their capabilities. He underscored the importance of including people with special abilities in artistic works, especially to portray their experiences realistically and showcase their talents. He called for expanding opportunities for them to express themselves in the artistic field.
