Amazon women protect endangered turtles

The article highlights the efforts of a group of indigenous women in the Amazon rainforest to protect the threatened Sharaba turtles, which are at risk of extinction due to river pollution, overhunting, and environmental degradation. Using traditional knowledge and modern technology, they collected eggs, transferred them to hatcheries, and cared for the hatchlings after they emerged, significantly reducing risks. Last year, they managed to release 208 young turtles out of the 235 eggs collected by the organization. This initiative is important not only for conserving this endangered species but also for preserving the culture and spiritual connections between the community and nature.
