Woman and husband detained over child death in Matariya hospital

A 5-year-old child with special needs died inside a hospital in Cairo after falling and sustaining multiple injuries. The child was reportedly subjected to abuse and beaten by a woman and her husband, who are residents of Shubra El Kheima. They confessed that he fell from a height following a beating due to his crying. The accused indicated that they took the child to the hospital when he showed signs of exhaustion and left him in the clinic corridor. However, the child's mother confirmed that her son had died more than a year ago and that she had left him with the accused until she paid back money she had borrowed from her. The police arrested the suspects and questioned them. An investigation is currently underway to uncover the full circumstances of the incident.
