Korean artist crafts fabric bread
The article focuses on South Korean artist Jimin Lee's project "FAKERY," which involves creating fake sculptures made of fabric and wire that depict bread and related items. The aim is to reimagine and execute baked goods in an unconventional artistic way. The project relies on techniques that combine wire to shape the exterior, with fabric used to complete the details, leaving the sculptures hollow inside to enhance viewers' imagination. Jimin Lee draws inspiration from childhood memories, where her mother would bake, instilling a sense of warmth and comfort; through her work, she seeks to visually evoke these feelings. She doesn't simply imitate reality but adds fantastical and interpretive elements, continuously expanding to depict various types of baked goods, all while maintaining a sense of humor and innovation in her art.
