Kingdom detains 144 for residency violations

The Ministry of Interior announced the seizure of 14,440 individuals violating residence, work, and border security regulations during the period from 16 Rabi' al-Awwal 1448 AH to 22 Rabi' al-Awwal 1448 AH (July 30 to August 5, 2026). Among the detainees, 7,090 were in violation of residence laws, 3,932 for border security violations, and 3,418 for labor law violations. Additionally, 1,593 people who attempted to cross the borders into the Kingdom were apprehended, including 40% Yemenis and 59% Ethiopians, as well as 32 individuals trying to cross illegally out of the country. More than 18,131 violators were referred to diplomatic authorities, and 10,827 offenders were deported. The ministry warned that violators face penalties of up to 15 years in prison, fines reaching one million riyals, and the confiscation of transportation and housing. It also cautioned against facilitating illegal entry or assisting violators, urging the public to report violations through designated emergency numbers.
