The Saudi Ports Authority "Mawani," in collaboration with the global company Maersk, shipped 2,400 container loads of rice from India to Jeddah Islamic Port at the end of August and the beginning of September. The goal was to boost rice supplies and meet domestic market needs. This initiative aims to support the Kingdom's food security and logistical strategies by transporting shipments from Mundra and Nhava Sheva ports in India aboard two vessels—one arriving at the end of August with a capacity of 4,200 containers, and the other arriving in September with a capacity of 3,500 containers—totaling a capacity of up to 7,700 containers. This reflects an enhancement of Saudi ports’ logistical capabilities, improved supply chain resilience, and support for Saudi Arabia’s position as a global logistics hub, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 to strengthen food security and develop the national logistics sector.
