Restad Energy's analyses indicate that Europe will face a more challenging winter due to declining liquefied natural gas supplies resulting from the war in the Middle East. There are also expectations of the strongest El Niño phenomenon since 2015-2016, which could lead to temperature increases of two degrees Celsius above average, thereby reducing gas demand. However, Europe will still need to increase its gas imports by approximately 15.15 million tons annually until June 2027 to compensate for lower reserves and declining imports in 2026. It is estimated that around 150 additional shipments will be needed before winter. Although a moderate rise in temperatures could reduce the need for gas, the market remains sensitive due to dwindling supplies and the challenges of meeting European demand.
