Russia thwarts Ukrainian drone over Saint Petersburg

Russia intercepted dozens of Ukrainian drones near Saint Petersburg, leading to the injury of an oil facility and disrupting air traffic at one of the country's busiest airports. The attacks resulted in debris falling on homes, cars, and power lines, causing temporary power outages, with no injuries reported so far. The assault also caused a fire at Saint Petersburg's oil port and imposed restrictions on Polkovoy Airport operations, while the regional governor affirmed the readiness of air defense systems to respond to such attacks. These heightened tensions come in response to Kyiv's threats to resume strikes on Russian refineries, amid waning U.S. support, as U.S. President Trump issued an order to lift sanctions on the Russian oil sector, drawing international criticism.
