Volunteers Defend Kyiv Skies from Jets
Ukraine's volunteer air defense units in Kyiv are struggling to intercept Russia's newly deployed jet-powered attack drones, which travel at high speeds and reach up to 10 km in altitude. Despite a 50-60% interception rate, these drones are difficult to target due to their speed and the limitations of existing weapons. Ukrainian efforts include developing high-speed interceptor drones and deploying fighter aircraft, but the rapid evolution of Russian drone technology presents ongoing challenges in protecting the city as Russia intensifies its air campaign.
