Overlooked factor in stroke recovery
A new study has shown that tailoring blood pressure management after stroke treatment can improve patients' chances of regaining independence. The results were better among patients whose blood pressure targets were adjusted based on the success of artery reopening. Approximately 440 patients were divided into two groups, and the findings revealed that about 60% of the personalized group were able to live independently, compared to 47% in the traditional group, with intracranial bleed rates decreasing to 22%. The study confirms that individualized blood pressure goals post-stroke removal represent an effective, low-cost strategy using currently available medications.
