Gaza reconstruction needs $71.4B
Rebuilding Gaza after three years of war requires more than $71.4 billion, according to a report prepared by the World Bank, the European Union, and the Palestinian government. Nearly 372,000 housing units have been damaged, with reconstruction costs exceeding $18 billion just for residential buildings. Most of the structures have been reduced to ruins, and widespread infrastructure damage has rendered the area uninhabitable, heavily reliant on humanitarian aid. The conflict has resulted in the deaths of over 74,000 Palestinians and injured more than 175,000 others. Efforts are ongoing to document damages and carry out reconstruction amidst significant challenges, including the enormous scale of destruction and the accumulation of debris, which may take more than two decades to clear.
