Government targets weapon incitement
The Iraqi government has moved to pursue anyone inciting violence or obstructing the implementation of any decisions to centralize arms under state control, using the two responsible laws: the Counter-Terrorism Law and the Penal Code, in order to protect security and stability. It also reaffirmed that freedom of opinion is a constitutional right exercised within the framework of the law, and that any media content exceeding this and turning into incitement or threats to security is subject to legal accountability. This comes as part of its efforts to combat misinformation and abuse, and to ensure that weapons are not used outside the authority of the state or for profit from supporting armed groups.
