Washington evacuates staff from Saudi Arabia
The United States has ordered the evacuation of its non-essential personnel and their families from diplomatic missions in Saudi Arabia due to escalating attacks by Yemeni Houthi militants targeting vital civilian and oil infrastructure within the kingdom. This comes after two deadly incidents: the first targeted Dammam Airport, resulting in one death and eight injuries, and the second involved Saudi defenses intercepting a drone attempting to strike the Shaybah oil field, which led to the deaths of two people. The American warnings come amid increased Houthi hostilities targeting infrastructure and civilian airports, affecting travel and energy trade in the Gulf. There is also a move toward issuing similar orders to American missions in other Gulf countries.
