Will Israel withdraw from security zone in south
The article discusses Lebanese-Israeli efforts and negotiations regarding the withdrawal of Israeli troops from South Lebanon, as well as new security arrangements known as the "Experimental Zones." The two sides agreed on guiding lines for the withdrawal mechanism, which include the deployment of the Lebanese army after the Israeli forces withdraw, along with international monitoring to ensure the area is free of weapons and to establish Lebanon's sovereignty over its territory. However, there are concerns that Israel's influence may persist not only through direct military presence but also by controlling security concepts and evaluating the performance of the Lebanese army. This supports the idea of a "security zone without soldiers," where Israel continues to control the conditions and performance even after its on-the-ground withdrawal, raising questions about whether the military occupation has truly ended or if security and informational control still remain under its influence.
