Russia reports over 60 earthquakes near Kamchatka

Along the coast of Kamchatka in the Russian Far East, more than 62 earthquakes occurred within a week, including 10 earthquakes during the last day with magnitudes reaching up to 4. According to the Russian Emergency Ministry, all these earthquakes took place in the Pacific Ocean waters more than 200 kilometers southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, and were often felt with intensities ranging from 2 to 4. These tremors recur periodically in the region as they originate from the same underwater area. Data indicate that seismic activity has been ongoing in this area for some time, leaving it susceptible to frequent earthquakes.
