British Airways Flight Declares Emergency Over Ireland
A British Airways flight "BA295" was on a journey from London Heathrow to Chicago O'Hare when an emergency was declared over Ireland, and the distress signal "7700" was used. The plane rapidly descended from an altitude of 37,000 feet to about 9,000 feet and was forced to turn back to London instead of continuing its flight. Emergency procedures were implemented without an official reason being disclosed. The code "7700" is used internationally to indicate a general emergency on the aircraft.
