Economy: Ongoing generator crackdown

The Ministry of Economy and Trade announced that its regulatory campaigns against private generator owners are ongoing to protect consumers' rights and enforce regulations. Recent inspections resulted in the issuance of 14 violation reports in the North, Beirut, and its suburbs, due to generators owners' failure to adhere to the official tariff and the imposition of illegal charges ranging from 70 cents to 1 dollar per kilowatt-hour. Additionally, one generator was released from seizure after violations were corrected. Reports were also issued against others for not installing meters or failing to issue invoices, with a reminder that the campaigns will continue, and legal measures will be taken against violators to safeguard the rights of consumers.
