Morocco's harvest impacts French wheat exports

Officials expect France's soft wheat exports to Morocco to decline during the 2026/2027 season due to improved local production in Morocco thanks to heavy rainfall. Morocco had been one of the major importers affected by a drought wave that damaged its production and the quality of its crop. Morocco stopped importing wheat in June 2025 to protect its harvest but resumed imports in September. It is anticipated that France will continue to export smaller quantities of wheat to Morocco from September 2026 to May 2027, despite there being sufficient supplies. During the 2025/2026 season, France exported 3.5 million tons of wheat to Morocco, and it is estimated that Morocco's wheat imports from France between September 2026 and May 2027 will reach around 2.5 million tons, amid ongoing instability in the Black Sea region.
