U.S. Embassy in Jordan warns of Middle East tensions

The U.S. Embassy in Jordan has warned its citizens of a possible escalation in the Middle East, with the potential for flight cancellations and airspace closures due to the deteriorating security situation. It indicated that Iran-backed Houthis have launched attacks on Saudi targets, including airports and critical infrastructure, which could quickly lead to an escalation of hostilities. The embassy recommends that Americans follow travel advisories, exercise caution, keep travel plans updated, and register with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP), while remaining vigilant against threats that may target American interests outside the region.
