Explosion and Evacuation at Riyadh Airport
A state of confusion erupted at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh after a loud explosion was heard, coinciding with widespread evacuations of travelers and staff due to escalating military tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis in Yemen. Eyewitnesses reported that evacuation procedures began inside the airport, and sources indicated that more than ten ambulances were dispatched to the scene. At least one person was injured by falling shrapnel. Saudi authorities have not yet issued an official explanation for the explosion; however, a diplomatic source suggested that the Houthis targeted the airport with a ballistic missile. This incident follows a series of recurrent attacks on the airport, which have resulted in casualties, injuries, and damage to aviation facilities. Consequently, many flights have been canceled or diverted. Regional and international airlines have either canceled or altered their flight schedules to Riyadh out of concern over security developments.
