France probes cyberattack on store cooling systems

French authorities announced that cyberattacks targeted refrigeration systems in hundreds of supermarkets, leading to increased temperatures and disruption of operations in many retail chains. Approximately 700 stores out of 10,000 in France were affected. While there is no complete threat to the food supply, the attack poses a food security risk and serves as a wake-up call. An investigation is underway to assess the extent of the damage, as older refrigeration systems of some companies were compromised; these companies have been advised to update their systems to enhance security. Some stores had to store food manually, while others managed to avoid a complete shutdown.
