Qatar to Launch No-Cost Power Project

Prime Minister Nohad Machnouk announced that Lebanon is approaching the signing of a Qatari project to rehabilitate and develop the electricity network. The project will be funded and implemented by Qatari entities without the Lebanese treasury bearing any initial costs. The project includes establishing and upgrading power generation sources and infrastructure aimed at achieving greater stability in electricity supply and reducing costs. It follows a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model. The goal is to increase production and lower expenses. Preparations are underway with the support of the International Finance Corporation and are expected to be presented to the government soon. This initiative aims to ensure sustainability within the framework of improving electricity sector management, representing a crucial step toward meeting Lebanon's energy needs in a more stable and effective manner.
