Iranian bank license withdrawal amid $200M mystery
The withdrawal of Lebanon’s Central Bank license from Export Insurance Bank of Iran and the closure of its branches came in the context of escalating American pressures on financial networks linked to the Iranian regime. This move is considered part of efforts to isolate the Iranian regime internationally. The timing also coincided with reports of $200 million in Iranian funds connected to Hezbollah, as well as increased measures against Iranian banks in Turkey, reflecting an escalation in both sanctions and financial surveillance. These decisions indicate intensified international efforts to target financial transfers associated with Iran and its allies.
