English Premier League club Bournemouth has announced that their Mexican defender, Julián Araujo, has undergone surgery to treat a left thigh injury sustained during the team's training tour in Austria. This injury will keep him out of the team’s lineup at the start of the new season. Araujo, aged 24, has experienced multiple injuries, including a problem with his quadriceps muscles during his loan spell at Celtic last March. He was also excluded from the Mexico national team squad for the 2026 World Cup. Bournemouth will begin their Premier League campaign with a match against Manchester City on August 23.
