Djokovic Extends Win Streak at China Open

Serbian Novak Djokovic won the China Open tennis title for the seventh time in his career after Australian Alex de Minaur withdrew from the final due to a thigh injury. Djokovic narrowly won the first set 7-6 (7-3), before de Minaur announced his withdrawal at the start of the second set following an injury he sustained, securing his 34th consecutive victory in Beijing without a loss and bringing his career total to 102 singles titles. Djokovic is the most successful player at the China Open, having won it seven times, with his latest victory in 2015 after returning to compete in Beijing for the first time in 11 years. The tournament had an unusual ending after Russian Daniil Medvedev was disqualified due to injury and Polish Horkach withdrew from the semi-finals, which contributed to Djokovic’s victory.
