Carragher Urges Strict Penalties for City
Jimmy Carragher, Liverpool legend, strongly praised the sanctions imposed on Manchester City, calling for the club to be punished for a period of three to five years and for its owners to step down immediately. Carragher refused to accept just a one-season ban, considering that the current financial penalties may not be enough to deter the club, especially if points are reduced or titles won unlawfully are revoked. His investigations revealed that City had committed financial violations over nine years, hiding more than £830 million. He also criticized the club's management, questioning its credibility, and expressed concern that such actions could damage the players' reputation and affect the team's performance, particularly if some players decide to leave amid extended sanctions. Carragher emphasized the importance of penalizing wrongdoers to maintain the integrity of the sport, while also protecting the players' reputation and ensuring they are not associated with the financial misconduct committed by the club.
