Al-Ittihad begins Asia season without wins

Al-Ittihad first football team failed to secure a victory in the first two rounds of the AFC Champions League for the second consecutive season, after losing 2-1 to Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai in the second round in Jeddah. They drew in the first round with Al Shamal Qatar, 1-1, repeating the scenario of last season when the team did not achieve any wins in the first two rounds, having lost in the opening matches against Al Wahda UAE and Shabab Al-Ahli. Shabab Al-Ahli scored two goals in the first half through Sardar Azmoun, and Al-Ittihad managed to reduce the deficit in the second half via Richard Ríos, but that was not enough to avoid defeat. The team remained at one point, while the Emirati team raised its tally to 6 points.
