FIFA delays 2026 esports event in Saudi Arabia

The organizers of the International Federation of Football (FIFA) and the Saudi eSports Federation announced the postponement of the 2026 Electronic Sports World Cup finals scheduled to take place in Jeddah from October 16 to 25, due to recent attacks on Saudi Arabia, including the attack on Riyadh Airport that resulted in 12 deaths and more than 300 injuries. The decision came after an assessment of security developments and their impact on logistical arrangements, with more details expected to be announced later. Other sporting events have also been affected; the Six Kings Tennis Tournament has been postponed, while sports federations are monitoring the situation ahead of the "Saudi International" tournament next month.
