Five nations join Southern Hydrogen Corridor

The energy ministers of Algeria, Tunisia, Italy, Austria, and Germany signed the Algiers Declaration regarding the South Hydrogen Corridor project to enhance regional and Euro-Mediterranean cooperation in the field of green hydrogen. The project aims to transport 4 million tons of green hydrogen annually from Algeria to Europe via a 3,000-kilometer pipeline, representing 10% of Europe's expected demand for clean fuel by 2040. Work on the project began in October 2024 with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between local and European companies to assess its feasibility. The signatories emphasize the importance of cooperation to achieve regional integration and shared economic development.
