Djerba hosts Qutoof Literary Festival

The "Qutuf Festival – Southern Literature Festival" in the Tunisian island of Djerba will be held on October 15 and 16, 2026. Its aim is to create a space for exchanging texts and ideas among writers, poets, and thinkers from the Maghreb, the Mashriq, and Sub-Saharan Africa. The program features diverse activities such as meetings, discussions, readings, performances, and workshops, all engaging with local heritage and geography to foster dialogue on literature and culture between the South and the South. The festival emphasizes involving young people and educational institutions and presents a new image of Djerba rooted in heritage and creativity. It also promotes a dialogue between Arabic, French, and English languages to affirm that Southern literature does not need to pass through the West to attain global recognition.
