The Tunisian Prime Ministry confirmed that it has improved the situation of adult educators through a government order issued in November 2024, which revises their employment system and connects them to ranks within the social education sector. This aims to ensure their financial and professional stability. This move comes after parliamentary deputies demanded the regularization of their professional status and their integration into the official career framework, given their long service in literacy and informal education. Currently, Tunisia is working to expand the concept of adult education to include life skills acquisition and health education within the framework of lifelong learning, in order to promote social and economic integration. The program features approximately 845 contracted teachers and 11 model centers as part of the national adult education initiative.
