Australia Phosphate Examined in Tunisia

Fosco Australia is working to expand its phosphate exploration operations in northern Tunisia, specifically in the Sqarana area of Siliana Governorate, where the license covers an area of 128 square kilometers. Preliminary drilling results have revealed the presence of phosphate mineralization with a thickness ranging between 6 and 9 meters in the initial boreholes. However, final results have not yet determined the grade of phosphate oxide or the size of the reserves, as the study is still in the evaluation phase. These findings represent an initial step toward assessing the potential for phosphate mining development in the region, within a broader project that estimates resources reaching hundreds of millions of tons, with the goal of starting production by mid-2028. The project faces important environmental considerations, especially since part of the proposed area includes natural zones, which could hinder development if the results lead to actual investment.
