Country establishes embassy in Jerusalem

According to the decision of Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella, Colombia has opened its embassy in Jerusalem, making it one of the few countries to establish diplomatic representation in the city, despite the lack of international recognition of its status as Israel’s capital. This event was attended by Israeli and Colombian officials and coincides with the decision of other countries such as the United States, Guatemala, and Nauru to relocate their embassies to Jerusalem, while the vast majority of nations continue to keep their embassies in Tel Aviv. The status of Jerusalem remains one of the most sensitive issues in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, especially following Israel's annexation of the eastern part of the city after its occupation in 1967, despite international non-recognition of this move.
